Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurates first Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas; ₹1 lakh crore investment projects launched in Jaipur

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the first-ever ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas’ in Jaipur on Wednesday, fulfilling a promise made last year to celebrate the diaspora annually on December 10. The event, held at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC), witnessed the participation of non-resident Rajasthanis from across India and abroad.

Addressing the gathering, CM Sharma expressed gratitude to the community for elevating the state’s global standing. He noted that while community members may reside in different corners of the world, their hearts continue to beat for Rajasthan.

“You carry with you the spirit of Rajasthan’s soil, the enterprise of Shekhawati, the pride of Mewar, and the glorious traditions of our state. We had imagined a large gathering of our diaspora sisters and brothers, and your presence in such numbers today makes us proud.” — Bhajanlal Sharma, Chief Minister

Major Investments and Policy Unveils

The event serves as a significant economic milestone for the state. According to officials, the programme facilitates the ground-breaking of investment proposals worth ₹1 lakh crore. This addition takes the total implemented investments from the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ summit to ₹8 lakh crore, out of the total signed agreements worth ₹35 lakh crore.

The state government is also using this platform to unveil more than 10 new policies aimed at boosting investment and governance. Prominent among these is the new ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Policy,’ designed specifically to engage and facilitate the diaspora community.

High-Profile Attendance

The event has drawn over 8,700 registered participants. Dignitaries in attendance include Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. Several state ministers and public representatives are also present.

Corporate leadership has a strong representation at the summit. Notable industry figures such as Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal and Tata Power CEO and MD Praveer Sinha are participating in the proceedings.

Global Representation and Sectoral Sessions

The event features office bearers from 26 Rajasthan chapters, comprising 12 international and 14 domestic units. International delegates have arrived from Munich (Germany), Nairobi (Kenya), Dubai (UAE), Singapore, Doha (Qatar), Tokyo (Japan), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Melbourne (Australia), Kampala (Uganda), Kathmandu (Nepal), London (UK), and New York (USA). Domestic chapters include representatives from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.

The day-long schedule includes sectoral sessions covering critical industries such as energy, water, mining, education, tourism, and health. Experts will discuss the changing industrial landscape of the state and explore future connectivity opportunities. The administration will also confer the ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Samman’ to individuals who have done commendable work in their respective fields.

The celebrations will conclude in the evening with a cultural programme showcasing the rich heritage of Rajasthan.
