Chandigarh: The administrative map of Haryana has been officially redrawn. The state government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has issued a formal notification declaring Hansi as the 23rd district of the state. This new administrative unit has been carved out of the existing Hisar district under the provisions of the Haryana Land Revenue Act, 1887.

The move comes shortly after Chief Minister Saini announced the plan during a development rally in Hansi last week. The notification, released by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, confirms the district’s formation and outlines its new boundaries and administrative structure.

Administrative Structure and Boundaries

According to the official notification, the newly formed Hansi district will include two sub-divisions: Hansi and Narnaund. To ensure better governance, the district will be administratively divided into three development blocks—Hansi-I, Hansi-II, and Narnaund.

Furthermore, the district will comprise three tehsils—Hansi, Narnaund, and Bass—along with one sub-tehsil at Kheri Jalab. This restructuring is designed to streamline local governance and bring administrative services closer to the residents.

110 Villages Included

The new district covers a significant area, incorporating a total of 110 villages from the Hansi and Narnaund Assembly segments. Apart from Hansi town itself, the list includes key villages such as Pali, Petwar, Prem Nagar, Kheri Jalab, Bass Akbarpur, and Bass Aajamshahpur.

Other notable villages brought under the new jurisdiction include Bhaklana, Bhatol Jatan, Bid Hansi, Budana, Data, Dhana Khurd, Dhana Kalan, Garhi, Gurana, Haibatpur, Kanwari, Khanpur, Kharkada, Rajthal, Rakhi Khas, Rampura, Sisai Bola, and Sisai Kalirawan.

Population and Rationale

Government estimates place the total geographical area of the new Hansi district at approximately 1,34,976 hectares. It will serve an estimated population of around 5.4 lakh people. Officials noted that the proposal for the new district was forwarded by the Hisar Deputy Commissioner through the Divisional Commissioner, citing a strong need for improved administrative efficiency.

The state government has emphasized that this decision aims to ensure better access to citizen-centric services. By creating a dedicated district administration, the government hopes to strengthen coordination and deliver welfare schemes in a more effective, time-bound manner to the region’s residents.

Hisar: A Hub of Reorganization

With this latest development, Hisar solidifies its status as one of the most reorganised districts in Haryana’s history. Over the decades, it has served as the parent district for several new administrative units. Before Hansi, three other districts—Bhiwani, Sirsa, and Fatehabad—were carved out of Hisar. Additionally, Charkhi Dadri was later separated from Bhiwani, which itself was originally part of the vast Hisar territory.
