Patna: The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has officially announced the schedule for the highly anticipated Sub-Inspector (SI) preliminary examination. Candidates who have applied for the recruitment drive can now gear up for the tests, which are slated to be held in early 2026.
According to the official notification released by the commission, the preliminary exams will be conducted on two separate dates: January 18 and January 21, 2026. The examination aims to fill 1,799 vacancies for Sub-Inspector posts under Advertisement No. 05/2025.
Exam Schedule and Shifts
The commission has confirmed that the examination will be held in an offline mode using OMR answer sheets. To manage the volume of candidates, the tests will be conducted in two shifts on both scheduled days. Each shift will have a duration of two hours.
The first shift will commence at 10:00 am and conclude at 12:00 noon. Candidates appearing for this slot must report to their respective centres by 8:30 am. The second shift is scheduled from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, with the reporting time set at 1:00 pm.
Admit Card Availability
Candidates can download their e-admit cards starting December 30, 2025. The hall tickets will be hosted on the official BPSSC website, bpssc.bihar.gov.in. The commission has explicitly stated that admit cards will not be sent via post, making the online download mandatory for all aspirants.
On the day of the exam, candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card. Additionally, a valid photo identity proof—such as an Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving licence, PAN card, or passport—is required for entry. Electronic gadgets, including mobile phones and smartwatches, remain strictly prohibited inside the examination halls.
Support for Technical Issues
The commission has also made provisions for candidates facing difficulties in downloading their e-admit cards. A duplicate e-admit card can be obtained by visiting the BPSSC office at Harding Road, Patna. This facility will be available on January 9, 2026, between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. Candidates seeking this service must bring a copy of their application receipt and a valid photo ID.
Selection Process Overview
The recruitment drive follows a multi-stage selection procedure. Candidates who clear the preliminary examination will qualify for the main examination. Subsequent stages include a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a Physical Measurement Test (PMT), concluding with a document verification round.
