Indore Police Warns NYE Revellers With ‘ Try Not to be Our Guest’ Poster; 195 Held for Drunk Driving

Indore Traffic Police have ramped up security arrangements across the city to ensure a safe New Year’s Eve, deploying over 500 personnel to manage celebrations. In a unique move, the police have issued a creative poster warning unruly revellers and those violating traffic norms against the consequences of their actions.

The poster, which has gained significant attention on social media, carries the message: “Try not to be our guest.” It specifically targets individuals who engage in drunk driving and public stunts, warning that offenders may have to walk home and could spend the night at a police station.

City-Wide Crackdown

The warning comes on the back of a rigorous three-day checking campaign ahead of the New Year. Police Commissioner Santosh Singh stated that an overnight operation on Monday resulted in the arrest of 495 criminals and other miscreants. During this drive, 195 drivers were caught and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“We have been conducting continuous checks for the last three days. Over 900 people were screened during the recent operation,” Commissioner Singh said, highlighting the administration’s proactive stance.

Strict Enforcement on Dec 31

For the night of December 31, police will conduct special checking drives at all major intersections and on the city’s outskirts. Special checkpoints have also been set up near hotels, pubs, and bars to prevent untoward incidents.

The primary focus of the operation is to curb accidents caused by drunk driving. The traffic police have clearly stated that vehicles of those found driving in an inebriated state will be seized, and strict legal action will be initiated against them. Authorities have appealed to citizens to celebrate the New Year with discipline and responsibility.
