Bhopal: Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang on Sunday led a massive cycling event in the state capital, flagging off the ‘Cycle on Sunday’ initiative to promote a culture of fitness and environmental consciousness among citizens.
Thousands of youth and residents participated in the event, which was jointly organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) CRC Bhopal and Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT). The minister himself joined the participants, riding a bicycle to encourage the adoption of a healthier lifestyle.
Stressing Fitness for a ‘Hit’ Nation
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sarang highlighted the importance of physical well-being, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide fitness movement.
“Prime Minister Modi has given the message of fitness. If the country is to be a hit, everyone will have to be fit,” — Vishwas Kailash Sarang
He described cycling as an exhilarating form of exercise that can help people move towards their fitness goals with enthusiasm. “If cycling becomes a part of life, it will yield a positive impact,” he added.
A Boost for Health and Environment
The minister emphasized the dual benefits of cycling, pointing out its positive effects on both personal health and the environment. “Cycling is important not only for fitness but also for environmental protection,” Sarang remarked, encouraging people to integrate the activity into their daily routines.
