Indore Water Contamination: Kamal Nath Slams MP Govt Over 16 Alleged Deaths, Claims Corruption Rampant

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has strongly criticized the state’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government following allegations that 16 people died in Indore due to the consumption of contaminated water. In a sharp rebuke posted on the social media platform X, the senior Congress leader accused the administration of deflection rather than accountability.

Nath expressed dismay that instead of feeling ashamed over such a serious public health crisis, the ruling party and its organization were focused on attacking the Congress. He termed the government’s response as insensitive given the gravity of the situation in Indore.

Allegations of Systemic Corruption

Broadening his attack beyond the immediate water crisis, Nath alleged that corruption has permeated every level of the state administration, from the bottom to the top. He claimed that total negligence is being observed in works directly related to public welfare.

The former Chief Minister highlighted several infrastructural failures across Madhya Pradesh. He pointed out that roads are in dilapidated conditions and schools are facing a severe shortage of teachers. He further noted that many schools are on the verge of closure, while urban civic bodies are struggling due to a lack of adequate staff.

Financial Mismanagement Claims

Nath also raised serious concerns regarding the state’s financial health. He claimed that the government is borrowing approximately Rs 5,000 crore every month. According to him, these funds are not being utilized for public welfare but are instead being lost to corruption.

Addressing the state of basic amenities, he alleged that electricity, water supply, and sewer lines are in a crumbling state. He attributed this collapse to the government’s reliance on contract workers for critical maintenance tasks, adding that these employees are not even paid adequate salaries.

“The time has come for a radical change in Madhya Pradesh, and the public and the Congress party are fully prepared for it.” — Kamal Nath

Concluding his statement, Nath asserted that the people of Madhya Pradesh are ready for a major political overhaul, signaling the Congress party’s intent to aggressively challenge the current regime on governance issues.
