Halifax: The Indian diaspora in Halifax came together on January 17, 2026, to celebrate the 3rd Annual Shri Ram Mahotsav. The event, organised by the Halifax Hindu Society and ATAL-Atlantic Alliance of Uttar Bharat, marked the second anniversary of the Shri Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya.

The celebration was a blend of spiritual devotion and cultural festivities, drawing participation from numerous local families and community partners.

Spiritual and Cultural Highlights

The evening began with a recitation of the Sunderkand Path, followed by devotional ‘bhajan’ sessions. The Mahotsav also served as a platform for cultural expression, featuring a classical Kathak dance by performer Rusha and an energetic group performance by the Rhythm Rockers.

These performances showcased the rich cultural heritage and talent within the community, creating an atmosphere of joy and devotion dedicated to Shri Ram.

A Display of Interfaith Unity

A notable highlight of the event was the profound display of community spirit and interfaith collaboration. For the second year in a row, the Maritime Sikh Society extended its support by preparing the ‘prasad’ for all attendees.

Organisers said this gesture of compassion and selflessness reflected the shared values that bind the communities together. It was hailed as a powerful example of unity that transcends boundaries.

Community Collaboration

The event’s success was also attributed to the strong support from various community partners. The organisers expressed their gratitude to the IFCNS, Triveeni Events, Bengalis in Halifax (BIH), HSS, and VHP Canada for their continued love and support.

The celebration concluded with a message emphasizing that the values of justice, compassion, and truth, as exemplified by Bhagwan Ram, continue to inspire and guide people in the modern world.
