Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a surprise inspection of night shelters in Gorakhpur on Sunday, aiming to assess the ground reality of relief measures amidst the severe cold wave gripping the state.
The Chief Minister visited the shelter home located within the Gorakhpur railway station premises and the Jhulelal night shelter (Rain Basera). His visit was primarily focused on ensuring that homeless and destitute individuals were receiving adequate protection from the dropping temperatures.
Direct Interaction with Beneficiaries
During the inspection, CM Yogi Adityanath interacted directly with the people staying at these facilities. He inquired about their well-being and specifically asked if they were facing any inconvenience regarding the amenities provided by the administration.
Ensuring that the relief reached the intended beneficiaries, the Chief Minister distributed blankets and food to the needy present at the shelters. He personally spoke to individuals to verify that the facilities were functional and accessible.
Focus on Ground Reality
The surprise visit underscores the administration’s focus on monitoring winter relief efforts firsthand. By visiting the railway station—a common refuge for the homeless—and dedicated shelters, the Chief Minister sought to ensure that state-run initiatives for winter protection were being implemented effectively on the ground.
Officials were directed to ensure that no needy person suffers due to the cold, reinforcing the government’s commitment to providing necessary support during the winter season.
