Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and BJP President JP Nadda offered prayers at the Shri Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during the visit. Following the darshan, the Chief Minister stated that major health infrastructure projects in the state are being initiated with the blessings of Baba Mahakal.
The visit marks the beginning of a significant day for the state’s healthcare sector. Chief Minister Yadav announced that JP Nadda will lay the foundation stones for two new medical colleges in the Dhar and Betul districts later today. These institutions are part of a broader plan to expand healthcare infrastructure in districts where medical facilities have historically been limited.
Focus on Healthcare Expansion
According to the state government, a total of four medical colleges are to be established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in Madhya Pradesh. Two of these projects, located in Dhar and Betul, are being launched today. The initiative aims to bolster medical education and healthcare accessibility in the region.
Outlining the schedule, the Chief Minister said that Nadda would first travel to Dhar in the morning for the foundation stone ceremony and the inauguration of other development works. In the afternoon, the Union Minister is scheduled to visit Betul to lay the groundwork for the medical college there.
Warm Welcome in Indore
JP Nadda arrived in Indore on Monday evening, where he received a grand welcome at the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport. Prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP President Hemant Khandelwal, Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, and other senior party functionaries, were present to receive him.
Speaking to the media, CM Yadav described Nadda’s tenure as BJP President as auspicious for the party. He credited Nadda’s leadership for the BJP’s success in forming governments across several states, including retaining power in Madhya Pradesh for a consecutive term.
Upcoming Visit by Amit Shah
The Chief Minister also shared details about the upcoming visit of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on December 25. Shah is slated to visit the state to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
During his visit, the Home Minister will participate in programs in Gwalior and Rewa. Projects worth over ₹2 lakh crore will be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid. Additionally, letters of intent and allotment orders will be handed over to investors. Amit Shah is also scheduled to inaugurate a fair in Gwalior and attend an agriculture and farmers’ conference in Rewa.
Metro and Urban Development Updates
Touching upon urban infrastructure, the Chief Minister highlighted that Indore and Bhopal are now connected via modern metro rail networks. The central government has recently approved a 3.3-kilometer underground metro section for Indore.
Furthermore, the state unveiled the map for its first ‘Bhopal Metropolitan Area.’ This new zone will encompass Bhopal along with parts of Raisen, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Sehore, and Narmadapuram districts. The metropolitan area is expected to cover 12 urban bodies, 30 tehsils, and approximately 2,524 villages, signaling a major push towards integrated urban planning.
